Welcome to Heart of Georgia United Way

As a community, middle Georgia is extremely eager to meet needs, to right wrongs, and to fix problems. In Laurens County, the number of non-profit organizations has trippled during the last half-dozen years.

More than 300 entities now hold non-profit status. Some seek to help relieve a point of disadvantage or suffering. Some provide experiences for youth that build a better, more educated citizenry. Some work to provide a future for families.

Service providers assisting people with identified needs, newborns to elderly, are making their presence known by opening offices and recruiting volunteers. This work is an apparent result of the never ending question, "Why doesn't somebody do something?"

Many local citizens personally answer this question every payday. They participate in payroll deduction giving through th cooperation of their employer and the United Way.
